Liverpool vs Nottm Forest

Liverpool are winless. Two games into Andoni Iraola's first Premier League season as the Liverpool boss, the Reds have yet to register a win. Oliver Glasner's Nottingham Forest came to Merseyside, led twice, and left with a point that felt like much more than that.

Forest were compact, physical, and dangerously quick on the break. Glasner has built a side that knows exactly what it is: well-organised, hard to break down, and lethal when the opposition over-commits. Liverpool, chasing the game after going behind, were exactly the kind of opponent Forest were designed to exploit.

Dan Ndoye opened the scoring in the 24th minute, catching Liverpool's high line on a quick Forest transition. Anfield went quiet. Iraola's side pushed for an equaliser — and Alexander Isak delivered it on the hour, finishing calmly across goal after a well-worked move from midfield. 1–1.

Forest struck again in the 70th minute through a Morgan Gibbs-White penalty, the midfielder stepping up with ice-cold composure to restore Glasner's side's lead. Liverpool looked ragged. Iraola shuffled the pack. And in the 82nd minute, Víctor Muñoz — who seems to be making a habit of rescuing Liverpool in ugly moments — dragged them level with a thundering strike to make it 2–2.

Final whistle: 2–2. Both teams felt like this was one they each felt they could have won, but Forest probably felt better as they seem to have conquered the Anfield fear, having won the last two years and drawn this one. Whether you believe Anfield's atmosphere is overrated or that Liverpool simply had a bad day, Glasner's organized visitors left a mark on the early-season table. Liverpool will of course hope that their new expensive signing, Bradley Barcola, will turn the tide for them.
